Jayne Mitchell, originally born in Yorkshire, now living in Lancashire, England, was introduced to the pigeon sport in 1990 by her late partner, Martyn\nMitchell, a legendary stock man and well respected National winning\nfancier.  They have enjoyed successful\nracing in both the UK and Belgium, and have designed and built some of the most\nmodern lofts in the world.
\n
While they lived in the UK, every year they\nwould visit top fanciers in Belgium to introduce the best stock to the Mitchell\nloft.  The winning lines for UK racing at\nthat time were Gaby Vandenabeele, Silvere Toye & Maurice Casaert, known as\n\u201cWoodland Targas\u201d and \u201cSuper Carreras\u201d. \nWith these lines, they achieved one of their top results *** 2 x 1st\nNationals *** yearlings & old birds with their 1st, 2nd, 3rd Midlands National\nFC victory.  Jayne still gets goosebumps\nrecalling the day \u2013 the long wait \u2013 the anticipation \u2013 for her, this is\neverything that pigeon racing is about. \nThey also created a partnership with Cooper Brothers of Kidderminster\nand raced with great success as \u201cCooper Mitchell\u201d.  Between them every year >50 x 1st prizes\nwere won, with countless 1st National, Classic, Amalgamations and Open winners\nbred over the years.  Their birds were\nput to the test and enjoyed great success by many of the top lofts in the UK.

In 2003 the couple created a spectacular racing and breeding loft in\nWest Flanders, Belgium, and became a real force there \u2013 flying against the best\nin the world, winning many very top prizes.

Many said that Martyn was seen as being well\nahead of his time, and always advised people to have patience \u2026 he said \u201cit is\nnot your system that will not bring you the results, it is the changing of it\u201d\n\u2026 \u201cit is not the lack of expensive pedigrees in your loft, but it is the\nreliance on them rather than the performance of your birds\u201d \u2026 \u201cit is not the time\nyou spend in your loft, but the peace and quiet that you create in it - this\nwill bring you success\u201d.

Jayne has the advantage, and continues to enjoy\nthe best contacts and first hand knowledge about the racing, championships and\nfanciers in Belgium. Basketing pigeons in the same Club as some of the most\nfamous and successful fanciers was a dream come true for her \u2026 \u201cto be the best,\nyou have to beat the best!\u201d.  She\ncherishes her friendships built with pigeons and, when selecting stock, for\nher, it\u2019s as much about the fancier as it is the pigeons.

*** TMP Carrera *** family of modern Belgian\nsprinters \u2026 with the benefit of introductions from the latest superstar of the\nspeed in Belgium!  Martyn\u2019s philosophy was always to follow closely the\ntop winning fanciers in Belgium, and buy from their best pigeons, blending from\nchampion to champion.  Today, Jayne continues the same wisdom with the\n\u201cTMP Carreras\u201d, blending them with pigeons from 1st National Brive\n2022 winner Eric Vermander, who is responsible for countless top champions\naround the world, and sprint champion of Belgium, Stijn Van Laere.

*** Gino Clicque *** pigeons of Belgium (11 x 1st (inter)Nationals including 2 x 1st Nationals in both 2022 & 2025).  The TMP Breeding Loft houses breeding pairs of\ndirect Gino Clicque pigeons including sons, daughters and very close relatives\nof his main champion lines the pigeons, ie the TOP of the TOP !!! \nAlthough scoring at the top in the Middle and Long Distance National racing,\nthis family of pigeons are certainly good for all distances \u2026 winning 1st\nprizes from the beginning of the season to the end.  The collection of\nNational Ace Pigeons, National winners and Zonal\/Provincial stars of Gino\nClicque is immense. Pigeons such as Piraat, Super Prince, Golden Prince and\nPrince Rudy have a legendary status that reaches far beyond the Belgian border.\nNew generations of National Ace Pigeons have kept Gino at the top, and the list of references by other fanciers with his pigeons is immense.

*** TMP Platteeuw *** family \u2026 winners of 12 x\n1st Nationals in the last few years. A true all round pigeon base capable of\nwinning the first, middle and last races in the season. Kurt Platteeuw admits\nhimself that he benefitted hugely from his pigeon chats with Martyn and Jayne,\nand many of the top pigeons of Platteeuw are bred from their stock.  The\nTMP Platteeuw lines are also heavily based on the 1st KBDB Ace Pigeon Short\nDistance \u201cCannibal\u201d and \"New General\" who sold on PIPA for \u20ac440,000..

The TMP ethos is to create a winning breed of\npigeon which will prove successful for all types of racing and fancier. TMP\nonly promote products which are proven to keep birds healthy and ready for all\nseasons. This combination, with a wealth of knowledge of the pigeon sport,\ngives customers confidence in the TMP loft.

Jayne\u2019s lofts are supplied by by Ecco Sheds & Lofts, fitted throughout with Hermes automated breeder boxes with perch conversion kits.  In an L-shape configuration she has 8 sections with a wide corridor throughout.  She is super happy with the quality of youngsters produced with the Gold Bird range of products, used for the past three years.  Her system focuses on maintaining healthy digestion and good fertility, and ensuring youngsters reach their optimal development.

The pigeons are fed with Beyers Premium mixes.  Every bag is top quality, and the stock birds and youngsters are in great condition.  Beyers Grit Extra and Beyers Deli Multimix are in ready supply.  Every box has their own pot of maple peas, topped up daily - naturally low in fat but packed with protein & fibre.  Baths are accessed in the aviaries, with open windows to maintain a fresh environment.  Artificial daylight tubes control longer daylight, with slow dim up and down to create sunrise & sunset, ensuring birds settle before it goes dark.  The atmosphere in the loft is warm and light \u2013 Jayne says \u201cthe birds should not only have strong lineage, but also the right mental state to rear champions\u201d.

People often ask Jayne if she will start racing again, but for the moment her favourite part of the sport is breeding for others, and having the freedom to visit lofts to watch the racing.  For her, the perfect day is sitting in Belgium on a sunny day watching National birds race home \u2026 heaven \u2026 and if it\u2019s a 1st, well, that\u2019s the icing on the cake.
